Tim Lincecum Teams Up With GoPago to Give Away Free Lunch

If American economist Milton Friedman were still alive today it would be his 100th birthday and GoPago would have proved him wrong. Milton Friedman is credited for spreading the adage, “There ain’t no such thing as a free lunch” and today we know that is just not the case.  We didn’t set out to make an economist turn in his grave when he should be blowing out ghost birthday candles, but something magical happens when you pair a star pitcher with an app that’s a hit. In case you missed it, and weren’t one of Tim Lincecum’s 445,000 Facebook fans, we successfully teamed up with the Giants’ pitcher to give away over 30,000 free lunches on his behalf. Tim Lincecum reinforced how he truly cares about his fans, as we fed all those who are living in San Francisco and gave their thumbs to like him on Facebook. What does 30,000 free lunches spreading like wildfire over the city of San Francisco look like? Picture this: Enough hummus to fill a swimming pool. So many burritos that the pinto bean is now on the endangered species list. So many french fries that we are seriously concerned about another potato famine and so many pigs in a blanket that we are running out of blankets. We are sure that you are left with many questions, but first and foremost, how do you get yours? ‘Like’ Tim Lincecum’s page and see our special promo code that is effective till Aug 9th.  Also, like us on Facebook and Twitter for all the latest promotions and partnerships. At GoPago we are aiming to...

JP Morgan Chase Invests in GoPago

With all the growth and craziness around the office, sometimes we forget to stop and smell the roses. In the last few weeks: we’ve rebranded; hired on a lot more talent and moved into a bigger office. We are now GoPago, Inc. The simple change is indicative of our on-the-go application that puts the ordering and payment process on your smartphone. The biggest news of all came this morning when JP Morgan Chase & Co. announced their investment in us in the form of Series A preferred stock. The investment will boost our ability to provide both merchant and consumers high-quality mobile payment technologies. We want to give consumers an easy and convenient way to browse, order and pay for local goods and services, while receiving recognition and appreciation for their loyalty. While on the other side of the counter, businesses benefit from the rich customer data to help target special offers to drive sales. Soon Chase customers will have the opportunity to create their GoPago mobile storefront, extending their reach to a broader audience with business tools once only afforded by large companies. And for Chase cardholders? They’ll receive exclusive offers and discounts from Chase merchants. Read the announcement...

Oakbrook Florists

Last week I asked all of our Facebook and Twitter fans to take advantage of the 50% off offer at Oakbrook Florists. By ‘take advantage’ I meant: buy me flowers. The whole day I sat around the office secretly waiting for someone to walk in with flowers so I could make all my coworkers jealous. It didn’t work — there were no flowers. Since then, I’ve been contemplating ordering some flowers for myself … In the mirror, I’ve practiced the surprised face I would make when I first saw the flowers, as well as my answers when coworkers ask questions. Who are these from? Well, I don’t know. They have no note, maybe a secret admirer. What’s the occasion? Hmm, I think someone just really loves me. What? YOU got flowers? Who do you think you are? Ummm (I don’t really have an answer for the one. I should keep practicing). Anyway, I could go on, but I will spare you. Since I don’t really want to get flowers for myself, I am putting out another call For flowers! It’s Wednesday and for the rest of the week, Oakbrook Florist is offering 50% off for an order of Designer’s Choice or Dozen Roses. I’ll take...

Need a haircut?

Do you think Lee Redmond‘s manicurist let’s her just stroll in for an unscheduled appointment? Does Xie Qiuping have to call her hair dresser’s receptionist to make an appointment when she wants a just ‘little’ trim? Well, I would love to give you all the answers, but I can only speculate — I don’t really know. What I can tell you is how they should be scheduling their appointments. If she used Pago on her phone, Lee could easily find, schedule and pay for the nail appointment of choice. That way when her nails are wet, she doesn’t have to reach into her purse to grab her credit card (do you think she has to bring her own nail polish?). How many times do you think Xie has strained her neck from moving 15.5 feet–approximately 5 lbs–of hair so she can hear the phone call? The app would allow Xie to schedule her appointment for a trim without any struggle. Tap a few buttons, go through a few screens, select some important information; the salon will send you a message confirming your appointment has been booked and you can check that task off your to-do list. Easy and simple — browse. order....
